Tooth Whitening

Tooth Whitening is an easy, conservative, safe and cost effective way to whiten teeth. It is now one of the most popular Cosmetic Dentistry treatments available.

At Canberra Dental Care, we use a combination of whitening treatments. This including in-office and at home whitening trays to ensure that the best possible results are achieved for our patients. many of our patients combine tooth whitening with other cosmetic procedures. These include crowns and bridges. Bridges and crowns cannot be bleached. Because of this our patients often start to use the bleaching trays.

We all want to have beautiful white teeth but as we grow older the outer tooth (enamel) absorbs stains from tea, coffee, red wine and cigarette smoke. No amount of brushing or polishing will remove these stains; the only way is to whiten. This is because the discolouration is not simple on the surface.

Teeth whitening should be provided and supervised by a well trained dental surgeon rather than using kits bought over the counter or by professionals other than dentists. We take care of the whole mouth and not just the teeth. We attend to any minor sensitivity that may arise from this procedure. Because teeth are our business we have seen a lot of them. One this we can help with is working out when enough is enough. While we all like to have white teeth, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

At home

With the home bleaching method we take impressions of your upper and lower teeth. From this we make custom-made trays that hold the whitening gel. Because the trays are custom-made they are very comfortable and re-usable. You keep the trays and only need to buy the top up gels for future home whitening. Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth coloured porcelain shells that are custom made to bond to the front surface of teeth. As the name suggests they are placed over the existing teeth to create a layer over the existing tooth to enhance its appearance. Porcelain veneers are excellent for treating chipped, discoloured or misshaped teeth, especially in front teeth. They are often the ideal option for improving shape, length, size and tooth colour. The colour is matched to the surrounding teeth so the new surface blends into the existing smile.

Porcelain veneers are a more conservative option than a cr own as it requires less preparation of the tooth. The key difference between a crown and a veneer is that for a veneer to be fitted the underlying tooth has to be strong and healthy.

The popularity of porcelain veneers is continually escalating. This is due to their ability to enhance both the functional and aesthetic nature of your smile.

An initial FREE consultation where we will take photos and can assess if Invisalign® Go is an appropriate treatment for you.
Should you wish to proceed, we recommend taking a full jaw/ OPG x-ray of your mouth to ensure there are no other underlying dental issues present.
When we receive the ClinCheck plan you return for another appointment. At this next appointment we review the virtual 3D plan and to ensure we are both happy. We can then go ahead and ask the Invisalign® lab to construct the aligners.
